Really? Never read that anywhere before, but then again I stay clear of the skill / builds sections of the forum. I checked guildwiki and it says nothing about what you just said.
Can you confirm that is the case? Because its simply meant to convert all elemental damage in cold.

If the anomaly of damage being converted after the effects of armor does exist, this might slow things down a bit. That said, even when the destroyers come in waves (the big machine quest out in....dang, can't remember now...arbor bay I think where you sit on top of the temple near the waterfall and keep it "clear" for the workers) they are dispatched relatively handily in the usual manner... party focused fire, slow the warriors, kill the frontline if no healers, mop up the rest. Minion Nova bombing works as they like to bunch, and archaneecho/sandstorm is a beautiful skill combo. This is my experience, try it if you like. (Think some guildies and I will try the winter/barrage/conjure thing.)

Spoil Victor works pretty well, if you stick it on the barrage rangers it can do 300+ damage with one barrage.

I can't confirm right now because I am at work. However, there was a discussion about it on GuildWiki. You'll find all the experimental evidence there.

Oh...haha I knew something was wrong when I wasn't doing more damage (the only time I tried it anyway, I got too lazy to switch it in everytime and just used regular fire eles )

Bummer....
I like having a barrage/splinter ranger in Glint's challenge...I wiped an entire side worth of destroyers in two combos today...but I got ganked immediately after. Still was fun. Oh and it was the first wave so level 15's...but stop spoiling my fun!

I whipe all destroyers with my favorite build.
Me on LoD/prot. Jora with eviscerate. Livia on orders. Hayda on Anthem of fury. Add Lina, Mhenlo, Devona and Talon, and you've got 3 rampaging warriors that tear through most things not called Cyndr.

I was goofing around during the triple xp weekend and I was able to kill lots of destroyers with no hassle with this build
I was a Me/Rt and had ritualist damage spirits
Heros were, Jora, MM, and another necro as SS
This also works great for the assura area with those dinos that are touchers.

Ive been using either an SS build or a death build such as:
[skill]Rising Bile[/skill][skill]putrid Bile[/skill][skill]icy veins[/skill][skill]necrosis[/skill][skill]finnish him![/skill][skill]putrid explosion[/skill][skill]consume corpse[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
Death = 12+1+3
Soul Reaping =12+1
this also tears apart all foes in the hidden lair of the snowmen faster than any other necro build, kill one and they all die.

You can run a barrage/conjure ranger, a barrage/GftE ranger, and you spam Great Dwarf Weapon on them. Massive knockdown ftw.

Savannah Heat and other AoE firespells work nicely.
Run at least 2 elementalists with these.
If you're playing with someone additional bonus is your standard SS necro and MM.

Firespells? Please, DESTROYERS, not cats.
SS and MM and Eles with Air magic, thats the key.

Despite their resistance to fire and resistance to burning, ive always managed to defeat any and all destroyers I have come accross!
Its damn hard work when your stubborn and stick to using a fire build, but it is do-able! I tend to bring myself (an SF ele), Vekk (SF), 3 monks (1 hero), Olias (MM) and 2 warriors and ive always managed!
Ive been down to 60dp a few times while doing it, but ive done it!
My advice is that if your a fire ele and you insist on using fire, then try bringing winter (or what ever u call the ranger skill to change fire dmg into cold). You could also just go as a water or lightning ele which probably makes more sense!
Also focus on which destroyer to kill first as you would any group! Remove the degen Necros first, then he warriors and then the rangers from my experience!
My last advice is use any pve only skills that do damage to Destroyers and increase your Drawf rank as best you can and equip the title to do them extra damage and heal you.
I cant speak for other professions, but some observations I have made are...
1) The Norn are very good at doing them damage in bear form.
2) When you use raven form (during that dungeon or after aquiring if possible), it does alot of damage to destroyers.
Even during that Asuran quest which throughs wave, after wave, after wave of destroyers at you I still managed. Its not hard, but it can be done.
Anything is do-able! I can remember a time when I felt the mersaat were impossible to kill and I laugh at that now! Anything in game soon becomes easier!

Alkar's acid and single-target armor penetration skills.
Air magic is great, for instance.

I was wondering how would 2 Barrage rangers do with this http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Great_Dwarf_Weapon
Cast it on each other, make Winter and let the raping begin.

Physicals and hexes wreck destroyers. If your character happens to be an Elementalist just spam blind, wards, and PvE skills while physicals and hexers kill stuff.

I bring Splinter BP (me), Zhed, Sousuke, Vekk, Mhenlo, Lina, Herta, and Aidan (who actually doesnt suck in GWEN). I know that the Destroyers have a resistance to Earth, but I found this build works very well:
[skill]earth attunement[/skill][skill]eruption[/skill][skill]unsteady ground[/skill][skill]aftershock[/skill][skill][/skill]stoneflesh aura[skill]obsidian flame[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
The last skill is either [skill]ward against melee[/skill], [skill]ward of weariness[/skill], or [skill]ward against foes[/skill]. I give one to each of my heroes. The melee guys go down in seconds, Unsteady Ground and Aftershock is a lethal combination. Even with the 30% reduction, they still slaughter all Destroyers I've come across. They brought down the Great Destroyer in about45 seconds.
